antico frantoio 8 - coast tuscany: versilia

Antico Frantoio is immersed in the Monte Meto hillside, which dominates the Versillian coastline, located in a breathtaking panoramic position between the Tyrrhenian and Liguria coastline. The property is composed of a main villa and two annexes. The owners have kept the typical Tuscan style with old “cotto” floor, antique doors and beautiful chestnut beams. Another trademark of this villa are the al fresco paintings “trompe l’oeuil”.

The villa has been constructed on the original basis of an old olive-press and is immersed in a 10.000 sqm olive grove garden, typical in this part of the Mediterranean. The property is only 45 minutes from the international airport of Florence, 30 minutes from Pisa and Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore and Forte dei Marmi are all reachable in a few minutes.

Please Note: The villa can be rented in the Version 6 (6 pax) and Version 10 (10 pax). However, when the property is rented in this solution (Version 8) no other guests will be present on site.

The MAIN VILLA is on two floors. From the main entrance one enters in the large living room from which there is access to the dining room and the reading corner which is characterized by a panoramic view over the coastline. Also accessible via the dining room is the fully equipped kitchen with fire place, barbeque and store room. The second floor is composed of two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, two big bathrooms and a laundry room. Externally the villa has two beautiful wooden veranda’s.

The FIRST ANNEX distances only few meters from the main villa and is accessible via the staircase which leads from the veranda. This annex is made up of a living-dining room with open space kitchen, a double bedroom and a bathroom. Externally there is a beautiful patio, an ideal setting for breakfast and summer lunches.

GARDEN
The park area measure 10.000 sqm and it is characterized by 130 olive trees and the garden which extends on different levels. The colorful garden is cultivated with roses, fruit trees like apricots, oranges and a very good quality of grapes. The park is also enriched with secular cypresses and old oleanders. There are also chairs and tables which makes the garden more welcoming and helps one to relax.

POOL
Open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October, the oval shape swimming pool measures 14x7 m with a variable depth that goes from 1m to 2,5 m where there is fun for the children and relaxation for parents. The pool area is equipped with chairs, table, sun beds and umbrella. There is also an external shower which is next to a little wooden house used as a changing room.

POSITION

The property is located not far from Lucca. Lucca is a place that you can just walk around and discover and enjoy and it is really close to Firenze and far from the crowds. It has many things to offer to the guests as you can visit the city both by foot or by cycling to the city walls.

There are lots of places to see in this beautiful town, first of all the ancient walls, the Amphitheatre square and last but not least the Torre Guinigi.
In only a few kms from Lucca you will also find beautiful villas like Villa Reale, Villa Mansi or Villa Torrigiani. The Lucca area also offers a lot of interesting naturalistic places like Garfagnana, Valle del Serchio or Piana di Lucca. For those who wish to swim in the sea, the coastal strip of Versilia, from Forte dei Marmi to Torre del Lago Puccini, offers more than 20 kilometres (12 miles) of beaches, parks and splendid countryside. Most beaches can be reached from Lucca by car in 30 to 45 minutes.

This location also offers the perfect starting point to tour around the famous Cinque Terre. The area is easily reachable by car with the A11 super way Firenze-Pisa (called also Firenze mare) exit Capannori (11 km). From Genova you can use the A12 Genova- Rosignano. The railway station, that is not far from centre, links the city with Firenze and Pisa with hourly connections. From Firenze you can then reach all the other major Italian Cities. It is in Massarosa, that rise above the small town of Mommio Castello, which conserves the featured parts of a feudal castle: at the top, the main building, at the bottom the historical centre, and between these two essential parts, the Church. The Castle of Meto, has a notable importance, built with strong foundations and large antique stones. It should have been a control tower instead a church, with a functional defenses that surround it. The olives trees that can be admired from the hill, suggested by Gabriele D’Annunzio, with the famous poem of “Sull’alpe Di Mommio”.
