Antico Monastero is a very particular property located in the section of Anghiari, a small medieval village in the heart of Italy, with its colors and scents, steeped in history and culture, in the deepest nature of sunsets and starry skies.
Once a monastery of Camaldolesi monks for more than 1000 years, it is located in a beautiful park surrounded by fragrant flowers as well as numerous plants of colored roses. The most surprising is the many outdoor spaces surrounding the villa, each with something special to offer. Chairs, tables, and hammocks are placed everywhere to give the possibility to savor every glimpse of nature every explosion of colors.
The owner did all possible to respect and maintain the originality of the time trying to make the house as comfortable and functional as possible. Large exposed beams, stone niches, terracotta handmade tiles.
The property consists of four units surrounded by a garden of one hectare and 5 acres of woodland. Here you can find the main house, and old chapel and two separate annexes of which one is the owner’s house where she lives. The owner lives separate and is respecting the privacy of the guests.
INTERIOR
Accommodation: 14 + 6 people, 7 bedrooms, 7 ensuite bathrooms, 6 sofa beds.
Main house has three floors.
Ground floor: entrance on the reception, the large living room with dining table and with fireplace dated back to 600s. Passing the sitting area there is the professional kitchen connected to the outside by a French door where you can find a table with chairs for outdoor meals. This is the ideal place for breakfast or dinner on the barbecue or for tastings of local products.
First floor: access to the first floor via an internal staircase in “cotto” situated in the sitting room of the ground floor. This floor is connected to the garden via an external staircase which gives direct access to the rooms without going ground floor. The first floor is composed by three double bedrooms (can be easily consider as suites) have their own ensuite bathroom, one with bathtub, two with shower. All these bedrooms have double beds and one has an extra sofa bed in the sitting area.
Top floor: A wooden staircase leads to the top floor with a beautiful library inserted within a gallery: this is the oldest part of the house which seemed to be once a Lombard watchtower. The room consists of a master bedroom with a French bed and a living room with fireplace and double sofa bed. The two rooms are separated by a door but share the same bathroom en suite.
The first annex distances only few meters from the main house. This was once a small church transformed over the years into a little house. The annex is on two floors. On the ground floor there is one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower. From this floor a terracotta stairs leads to the upper floor where there is another bedroom with en suite bathroom with shower. The room has a closet in which there is a small kitchen with refrigerator. The two rooms are completely separate despite being one above the other.
The second annex distances about 30 m from the main house. The wooden beams, columns and tiles are exposed. The floor is partly wooden part was recovered the ancient terracotta that was found in the chapel next door. On the ground floor there is the master bedroom and is equipped with two bathrooms (one toilet for disabled and a bathroom with hydro-massage shower). The room has a small corner kitchen.

The property, which consists of one hectare and 5 acres of woodland, is located in a beautiful park surrounded by fragrant flowers in every season. In addition to this, there are a cabin surrounded by olive trees near the pool, a covered veranda with its sofas near the square, an outdoor veranda full of roses with a direct access to the kitchen and the “geranium terrace” on the second floor of the main villa from which you can admire beautiful sunsets or glittering starry skies
Chairs, tables, and hammocks are placed everywhere to give the possibility to savor every glimpse of nature every explosion of colors.
POOL
The swimming pool is situated about 50 meters distant from the house, in the sunniest part of the property in a lush garden. It measures 12 mx 6 m with a constant depth of 1.5 m and is illuminated inside and out for the evening, access to the water is by ladder. Its edges there is in addition to a large outdoor shower solarium area furnished with beds, tables, chairs and umbrellas.
The pool is accessed through a few stairs made up with wooden steps (train sleepers). In a secluded area among the olive trees, there is a small wooden house furnished with rugs and pillows and at guests disposal.
All outdoor areas of the property have outdoor lighting divided into zones and free wi-fi, at the entrance of the villa is a large open parking but protected by an entrance with automatic gate.
The price includes: welcome basket, towels and linen with weekly change, use of gas for cooking purpose, water, cot, highchair, Wi-Fi internet connection, Midweek cleaning of bedrooms and bathrooms,
The price doesn’t include: electricity euro 220.00/week, final cleaning euro 240.00, eventual Tourist Tax if applicable (further details will be given on the spot)
