casale acacio - tuscany: san gimignano and volterra

Casale Acacio is an old barn on the road from Poggibonsi to San Gimignano. The property is part of a “borgo” with typical Tuscan houses but is completely independent from the rest of the complex with a pleasant view over the countryside and the medieval towers of San Gimignano.

Great care has been taken to preserve the original characteristics. There are windows with brick grates in both bedrooms, terracotta floors, ceilings with wooden beams and brick arches, typical of rural Tuscan architecture.

The house is the ideal spot for holidaying in the Tuscan countryside, not far from San Gimignano, and the vicinity of the main road brings within easy reach Volterra and other art centers, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Arezzo....

INTERIOR

The house consists of two floors and an attic. The main entrance is on the ground floor and leads directly into the living/dining room with fireplace. On this floor is the kitchen with pantry, the laundry room and a toilet. A marble staircase leads up to the first floor with the sleeping area that is composed of two double rooms, one of which has a large terrace leading directly to the garden, and two single rooms, a bathroom with shower and two connecting bathrooms with shared tub. From this floor an iron spiral staircase leads to the attic with sofa.

GARDEN

The house is surrounded by a garden of about 850 sq m that is spread over two levels, one around the house and the other, with the pool, which is reached by steps. The garden, which is mostly lawn, is well kept and planted with rose bushes and other shrubs. Tall trees and old oaks surround the park. Outside the dining/kitchen area is a stone barbecue and an attractive table, ideal for outdoor dining.

POOL

The pool is open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October. The pool area is about 50 m from the house and is reached via a wooden stairway, it is rectangular in shape and measures 10 x 5 m with a depth varying from 1,20 to 2,10 m. It has a terracotta border, PVC facing and ladder to enter the water. The solarium area, with terracotta flooring and surrounded by a lawn, is equipped with sun loungers, table and chairs and beach umbrella. A cold-water, outdoor shower is situated near the pool.

Poggibonsi is in the heart of Tuscany, half way between San Gimignano, “the town of the beautiful towers”, and Colle di Val d'Elsa, “the crystal town”, and is also near to the splendid towns of Florence and Siena and many other interesting places to visit such as the Chianti region, Volterra, Arezzo, Pisa and Montalcino (to mention just a few).

Casale Acacio is just a few kilometers from Poggibonsi, a little town where everything needed for a pleasant stay can be found: supermarket, shopping centers, chemist, hospital, shops, post office and bank.
