Casale Elisa is a wonderful stone cottage situated on a hill with splendid views over the valley of Arezzo and the beginning of the Valley of Casentino.
The property covers an area of about 7 hectares dedicated mainly to the cultivation of olive trees (about 500 olive trees) for the production of extra virgin olive oil that the owners also sell their customers on request. The structure is composed by the main building with three floors but only the ground floor can be rented (the other floors are currently vacant and uninhabited).
In the same property, live the owner Mrs. Rossella with her mother in a small wing of the farmhouse, with private entrance. Their presence will go unnoticed as they are very sensitive and respectful of the privacy of their guests, but always welcoming and at their disposal.
The ideal location of this property is undoubtedly a strategic starting point and many excursions can be organized in this area rich in history, culture and tradition.
The beautiful city of Arezzo is located just 8 km from Casale Elisa and offers a wide variety of sites and monuments as well as numerous events throughout the year. The city, well known for its Goldsmith production, the commemoration of the "Giostra del Saracino" and for its famous Antiques Fair which attracts many fans and tourists each first Sunday of the month, has now been made world famous as the set for many scenes the film "Life Is Beautiful" by Roberto Benigni.
Feedback for Casale Elisa from Sept. 22 - Sept. 29/2012
While this was my first trip to Italy, I am a frequent traveler. Casale Elisa was by far the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. My three traveling companions and I felt right at home from the moment we pulled up to the front door. Rosella and her mother, Elisa, made us feel so very welcome. All the rooms were quite spacious, each one of us had her own bed, and we even had a little private walled-in patio right outside one of our doors. The place was spotless, and I was intrigued by the history of the villa which was built in the 1700's. To add to our feeling of having "come home," a fruit tart, freshly baked by Elisa, awaited us in the large but cozy kitchen. Rosella and Elisa hurried to bring whatever we requested during our stay. Gorgeous views of the countryside, the beautiful swimming pool, the three other outdoor patio areas, and even a garage for our rental car made our stay most pleasant. Arezzo is a delightful town which is centrally located so that the beautiful walled cities we visited each day were never far away. In addition, Arezzo's rail center made getting to and from Rome and Florence extremely easy. All in all, I cannot recommend Casale Elisa highly enough.
Feedback for Casale Elisa from Sept. 22 - Sept. 29/2012
My friends and I stayed in Casale Elisa from September 22 - September 29, 2012. A couple of us had been to Italy several times and had done the large city and hotel stay. This is the first time I had stayed in a villa and I will never do it any other way. From the moment we drove in and up the driveway we were so impressed with the grounds and the home. We were met by Rossella (the owner) and her mother who welcomed us, showed us around and had even baked us a fresh fruit tart. We could tell they were so proud of their home as they should be and it was filled with love. It was immaculate, and as beautiful on the inside as it was on the outside. It was more than we could have asked for. Each of us had a bed. There were two bedrooms and two fold outs. The kitchen and living room were spacious and we were able to add a wi fi connection as well. There was a beautiful pool and multiple outside eating areas which we used to drink wine and plan day trips. There was complete privacy, but Rosella always checked it to see if all was OK and to see if we needed anything. She gave us an introduction to the area (we had a car, which is important to get around if you want to do day trips) and then with our GPS and car we went exploring the beauty that is Tuscany. Arezzo is only 10 min. away; and everything else we were able to get to by car within the hour. Orvieto, in Umbria should not be missed. That was the longest drive....an hour, but well worth it. (and had the fewest tourists) Cortona is not too far. It was so nice to come home to a real home at the end of the day with a real living room and bedroom. This home made the experience one we will always remember. Thank you Rosella. We hope to send many people your way.
