Il Poggetto rises a few hundred meters from the Castle of Strozzavolpe and it was built, in the seventeenth century, as the residence of the factor. Facing the Fortress of Poggio Imperiale, beyond the valley, where the Staggia flows its tortuous course, on a hill covered with ancient oak trees towers the Castle of Strozzavolpe, a superb romanesque military construction, now an inviting haven of peace and quiet. From the top of the house one can admire the beauty of the Val d'Elsa with the fascinating towers of San Gimignano in the background. Here art is in its element. In fact Siena is only 25km away, Florence 35km, San Gimignano 15km and Volterra 35km. The village of Poggibonsi with shops and services of all kinds is only 3km away. Il Poggetto is made up of a principal house where the owner lives on the ground floor, and of a charming annex obtained from the renovation of the old barn. There is a washing machine for shared use.
