La Soleggiata, dated from the nineteenth century, has recently undergone restoration work that has kept the internal structure that the previous owners had given her. The house has a large park divided between approximately 1500 sq m of garden with the rest given over to terracing with olive trees. On the top floor is the owners’ apartment, very reserved people but at the same time very helpful to guests if the need should arise. The owners’ apartment has a completely independent entrance and they do not use the park or the pool. La Soleggiata is a few hundred metres from the centre of Cortona yet pleasantly immersed in the green hill of Cortona from where it dominates the valley below. Cosy corners in the garden as well as fabulous glimpses of the view can be enjoyed by the guests in this charming property. From here the beautiful little towns of Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino but also the more important towns like Siena, Perugia, Florence and Rome can be easily reached.
INTERIOR
The part used for renting is all on one floor. The main entrance leads into the sitting room with working fireplace and into the kitchen with dining area formed by an open space divided by a brick archway. A corridor leads to the sleeping area composed of a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, with two queen size beds, which share a bathroom with tub and shower.
Equipment: satellite TV, WI-FI internet fast connection, HI-FI stereo with CD player, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, mixer, food processor, juice extractor, purifier drinking water, moka, iron and ironing board, babycot, mobile barbecue, books and magazines, hairdryer.
EXTERIOR
The park extends around the house for about 6000 sq m, of which about 1500 sq m are garden and the rest terracing with olive trees. Many large trees, such as oaks and holm oaks, linden, cypress, peach, plum and fig trees, are present in the property. The various corners of the garden are embellished by vibernum, rosemary and spiraea bushes, bamboo and pots with various kinds of flowers. In a secluded area of the garden is an open air lounge with comfortable armchairs with cushions and a small rattan table, a charming spot for sitting and relaxing in absolute peace. At the back of the house is a pergola furnished with table and chairs and a barbecue for pleasant alfresco meals.
POOL
Open from the last Saturday of April to the first Saturday of October, the pool is about 20 m from the house, in a lower position. It is rectangular in shape, access to the water is by Roman steps, it is lined in PVC and measures 9 x 4 m with a depth varying from 1 to 2.20 m. It is lighted by spotlights, both outside and inside the pool. The solarium area is provided with sunbeds, chaises longues and sun umbrella. At one side of the solarium is a cold water shower.

The Location is an ideal starting point for who wish to have nice daily trip and sightseeing all over South Tuscany and Umbria as well: being the city of Cortona located not far either from the motorway A1 ( exit Valdichiana) and from the freeway Siena-Perugia. Very well known sites like Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Perugia, Assisi and so on can be reached in less than hour driving as well as the hidden and maybe most beautiful corners of this 2 regions. Big cities like Florence or Rome can be easily reached also by train ( and we suggest to use it in high season to avoid traffic roads) being Cortona served by 2 train railways stations. Above all we are quite sure that you will fall in love with the ancient atmosphere of this beautiful town. All shops and facilities in the big village of Camucia, nice restaurants, bars, cafes, shops in Cortona. Supermarket are open also on Sunday morning. From the property the village of Cortona can be reached with a nice walk (500 m).
