Discover the Beautiful Beaches of Maremma

Maremma Tuscany Beaches

The Maremma region of Tuscany is claimed to be home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. Here, you can find a huge variety of landscapes, from sheer sea cliffs, to fascinating little bays and gorgeous sandy beaches. And there’s definitely no shortage of these beaches, what with the extensive 160 kilometre long coastline. So why not come and enjoy these wonderful beaches from the comfort of one of our many holiday villas on the Maremma coast?

Maremma is a large area of southern Tuscany, and due to its diverse territory, it’s not only unique, but simply spectacular. The region was once inhabited by the Etruscans and later the Romans, and it was also home to the powerful and prestigious Medici family for a while. As well as its striking panoramas, Maremma is the perfect place for tantalising your taste buds with great local produce and delicious wine.

But what really draws people to the region is the huge number of incredible beaches, which are neither overrun with tourists, nor are they reserved for the elite. This perfectly laid back region is suitable for everyone, and great for families. The best time to go is in the early or late summer, as you’ll still experience pleasant temperatures whilst avoiding the Italians who escape the nearby cities of Florence, Siena and Rome when the summer heat arrives. Many of the Maremma beaches hold the prestigious Blue Flag award, which means that they are exceptionally clean with excellent water quality.

If you’re looking for a family-oriented beach, then head to the Argento Coast, which is known for having numerous family friendly beaches. Why not try Le Rocchette, which is 7km north of Castiglione della Pescaia. With its clean, golden sand and shallow water near the beach, it’s perfect for the young ones. The Capalbio section of the Maremma coast is home to lots of untouched and unspoilt beaches, around half of which are free of charge. Fenaglia is often said to be Tuscany’s best beach, and has life guards on duty so your kids can swim safely. Marina di Alberese beach is also great for families, with stunning surroundings.

At L’Acqua Dolce beach near Porto Ercole, you can find calm waters, rock pools and rugged cliffs. This secluded, and often deserted beach is great for couples and those seeking a spot of tranquillity. And to reach the fantastic Cala Violina beach, you’ll need to walk through a pine forest first, which later serves as a great place to enjoy a little shade and a relaxing picnic.

We have a selection of apartments and holiday villas on the Tuscany coast, all close to the sea in beautiful locations. There are also several Maremma coast villas also available for rent, so you’ll be in a great position to discover both the popular and secluded beaches that this amazing region has to offer.
