Adventure Sports in Le Marche

The Marches (or Le Marche) is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, with an incredibly diverse landscape. From rolling hills to striking mountains and gorgeous Adriatic beaches, it’s no wonder that many have labelled Le Marche as being all of Italy in just one province.
Due to the varied landscape, this unspoilt and accessible region is perfect for all you adventure seekers out there. So, why not head to this incredible part of Italy and, using one of our fantastic Marches holiday country houses as a comfortable base, get ready to enjoy the great outdoors!

With 180 kilometres of coastline, 2 national parks and a handful of nature reserves, Le Marches is a natural haven, and therefore a great place to try out some outdoor activities and adventure sports. Make sure that your first stop is the Sibillini National Park, which includes the stunning Sibillini mountains. These mountains are the perfect place to do snow sports, and Sassotetto is the main ski resort in this area, with 9 pistes and a snow park for boarders. Or, why not take to the skies and have a go at parascending and hang gliding? The hang gliding school at Sarnano has tandem flights for tourists available. The mountains and the National Park are also great places to go walking and trekking, and you can really take in this dramatic landscape by taking part in a walking tour organised by the Park’s tourist office. Whether it’s hiking, cycling or bird watching you’re into, the Sibillini mountains are the perfect for all adventure lovers!

Or, if you fancy taking to the water, then why not head to Lake Cingoli, which is the largest man-made body of water in central Italy. Here, you can hire a boat, or have a go at windsurfing and kitesurfing. Another great place for water sports is the Gola del Furlo (or Furlo Gorge), which is made up of thousands of hectares of woods, meadows and peaks, all packed full of incredible wildlife. Head to the Candigliano River for a spot of rafting, canoeing, kayaking or for those of you who want something a bit more gentle; fishing. Visit the Punto IAT centre for more information on the activities you can do.

Finally, an adventure trip to Le Marches would not be complete without visiting the Gola di Frasassi, which is an incredible system of caves that can be found in the Parco Naturale Regionale gola della Rossa e di Frasassi. You can take a special tour underground to discover the small lakes, stalactites, huge stalagmites and the cavernous Abisso Ancona.
So whatever type of outdoor adventure you’re after, Le Marches has something for you! Check out our great selection of Marches villas, or pick a gorgeous Marches holiday country house with a fabulous outdoor pool, and let the adventure begin!
