Lake Garda and the Vittoriale

Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and although sometimes overshadowed by the popular Como, this incredible location makes for a wonderful holiday destination. Located between Brescia and Verona in northern Italy, the lake and its surroundings offer a beautifully diverse landscape, and over the years, this area has acquired a rather exclusive feel. So why not take a look at one of our villas in Garda Lake, and get ready to explore this stunning area for yourself!
Along with its incredible scenery and intense colours, Lake Garda also has a wonderfully pleasant climate. Here, you will find flourishing vegetation, as well as plenty of lemon and olive groves.

The southern part of the lake is surrounded by hills, which were left behind following the glacier recession, whereas the narrower northern part is enclosed by mountains. The stunning backdrop coupled with the intense azure lake seem to catapult you into a true haven of nature, with Spring being the best time to explore. It really is a unique spot for both relaxation and discovery.

The shores of the lake are studded with pretty harbour towns, and one of the most popular is the ancient town of Sirmione on south side of the lake. With cobbled streets, a thirteenth century castle and a ruined Roman villa, this is one of the most popular towns around the lake. You could also try the lively and attractive Bardolino on the southeastern shore, or Gardone Riviera to the west, which is home to great views, exotic vegetation and a very relaxed pace of life. Peschiera is another gem; a striking medieval town on the southernmost point of Garda.

As well as a selection of towns and resorts for you to visit, there’s also the Vittoriale degli Italiani; an eccentric estate which is spread across an entire hillside. This estate is famous for having belonged to the famous Italian writer, Gabriele d’Annunzio, who lived there from 1921-38The impressive complex boasts an amphitheatre, boathouse and even a mausoleum, which is the resting place of the writer himself. The main property is both a house and a museum which is dedicated to d’Annunzio’s life and work. There are many collections of various objects here, including paintings, statues, books, antiques and musical instruments, and many rooms have a particular style, such as Arabian or art deco.

The property also has two waiting rooms; one for welcome guests and other for, you’ve guessed it, unwelcome ones!
Whether you’re looking for gorgeous real estate in Tuscany, Italy, or perhaps in Veneto or the Marches, we have so many great properties for you. Pick a great villa in one of these amazing regions, or perhaps one of our fantastic Garda Lake villas, and be sure to have your dream holiday in Italy!
